What is lighting accessory equipment?

Lighting accessory equipment covers all the supporting components that do not emit light themselves but are essential for operating stage lighting fixtures safely and effectively. This includes mounting hardware such as truss clamps and omega brackets, suspension and safety systems like safety cables and grippers, DMX signal cables and power distribution units, spare parts such as lamps and motors, creative light-shaping tools like gobos and filters, and transport cases. Together, these accessories make it possible to install fixtures securely, control them reliably, shape the beam creatively and protect the gear in transit – turning individual fixtures into a complete, working lighting system.

What is light for and what does it bring to an event?

Light does far more than provide brightness at an event. Light structures space, models faces, sets atmosphere and directs the audience's attention where it belongs. On stage, lighting effects create movement, colour and mood that support music, theatre and presentations. To achieve these results reliably, the fixtures depend on accessories: clamps hold them safely overhead, DMX cables synchronise their colour and movement, gobos and filters shape the beam, and safety cables protect everyone below. In short, light gives an event its emotional impact, and the right accessories make that impact controllable, repeatable and safe.

What are luminaires and accessories in stage lighting?

In stage lighting, luminaires are the light-producing fixtures – moving heads, PAR spotlights, wash lights, lasers and effect units that generate the actual beam. Accessories are the supporting parts that do not produce light but make those luminaires usable: clamps and brackets for mounting, safety cables for secondary suspension, DMX and power cables for control and supply, spare lamps and motors for maintenance, gobos, filters and diffusers for creative shaping, and cases for transport. A professional lighting rig is always the combination of both – the luminaire creates the effect, while the accessories install, power, control, protect and complete it.

Which brand manufacturers of lamps and lighting accessories are there?

For light effect accessories, established manufacturers include Riggatec for clamps, safety cables and rigging hardware, Eurolite for brackets, gel frames and effect spares, Showtec for cables and mounting parts, Cameo for modern LED accessories and BeamZ for affordable DJ-focused hardware. For cabling and connectors, brands such as Neutrik, Seetronic, SOMMER CABLE and Accu Cable are standard choices. Fixture-specific spare lamps and parts come from the fixture makers themselves, including Antari, American DJ and Omnitronic. LTT stocks accessories from these leading manufacturers so you can match parts precisely to almost any fixture in your rig.

Which accessories are commonly used with stage or event lighting?

The most common accessories used with stage or event lighting fall into clear groups. Mounting hardware such as truss O-clamps, half couplers and omega brackets fixes fixtures to truss or stands. Safety cables in 3 mm or 4 mm provide the mandatory secondary attachment for overhead fixtures. Power distribution units and mains cables (typically 5 m to 15 m) supply current, while DMX cables or wireless DMX modules carry control signals. Spare lamps, motors and driver boards keep fixtures running, gobos, colour filters and diffusers shape the beam, and padded bags or stackable cases protect everything in transit.

How do I know which accessory is compatible with my fixtures?

To confirm compatibility, start with the fixture's own specifications. For mounting, match the clamp jaw size to your truss tube diameter – LTT Naxpro-Truss systems use 35 mm, 50 mm or 60 mm tubes depending on the series – and check that the clamp's working load limit exceeds the fixture weight. For power and control, verify connector type, voltage, cable current rating and DMX channel compatibility. For optical modifiers, ensure the accessory slot or lens-holder size matches the fixture. For cases, measure the fixture's dimensions and weight. When unsure, quote your exact fixture model and LTT will help you select the correct part.

What should I consider when choosing mounting and fixing accessories?

When choosing mounting and fixing accessories, weight and load come first: the clamp, coupler or bracket must safely carry the fixture, so check the working load limit against the fixture weight with a safety margin. Next, match the hardware to your rigging environment – truss, tube, ceiling or floor stand – and to the correct tube diameter (35 mm, 50 mm or 60 mm). Always add a correctly rated safety cable as secondary suspension to prevent a fall if a clamp fails. For rental and touring, favour lightweight, quick-release, TÜV-certified hardware. LTT advises you on compliant, fixture-matched mounting solutions.

What does a truss clamp for light effects cost and which one should I buy?

A standard truss O-clamp for light effects sits in the low-to-mid price range, while quick-release and swivel clamps cost a little more for the added convenience. Rather than choosing on price alone, pick the clamp by application: use O-clamps rated around 100 kg for fixed mounting on 50 mm truss, half couplers for lighter fixtures and cross-bracing, and quick-release clamps where you rig and de-rig frequently. Always confirm the jaw fits your truss tube diameter and that the working load limit exceeds your fixture weight. TÜV-certified aluminium alloy clamps offer the best balance of strength, weight and safety.
